How to make your own Protector Bug Headband

What You'll Need:

  • paper bag

  • pipe cleaners

  • scissors

  • Tape

  • Whatever you would like to use to decorate (see the very bottom of this article for helpful decorating tips)

How To Make Your Own Protector Bug Headbands:

Cut a 1 to 1.5 inch wide, single strip from your paper bag.

Wrap the strip around your child’s head, and mark where the two ends join.

With some tape, join the two ends at the mark, and cut off any excess.  This will be the back of your headband.

Once your headband is put together you can allow your child to decorate it however they please.

Now, fasten your two pipe cleaners toward the front of the headband by simply folding them around the band, and twisting them in place, just like this:

Curl the pipe cleaners around your finger to shape the antennae.

Now your child is ready to be a Happy Protector Bug Helper!

Tips for your headband:

*You can make it more colorful by using colored construction paper for the headband, just know, you may need to attach it with tape on more than one area.

Tips for Decorating your headband:

-your child can use old magazines to cut out pictures and glue them on to their headband.

Examples:

*Find and cut out things bugs would like

* Find and cut out things that make you feel strong and brave like a Protector Bug

- If you are VERY brave you can get old newspaper to layout and use watercolors or even drizzle glue and sprinkle with glitter on the the headband for extra glitzy.

Be as creative as you want and let your children make it their own!
